Three Basic Things Anyone Needs to Start Playing the Piano

"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." (Ephesians 2:10, KJV)

Very often new students call into our studio with the desire to start piano lessons, but are completely unaware of the basic things that are needed to start the journey. We prepared the following guide with the three basic things anyone needs to start playing the piano.

1. A Piano

Having a piano might be obvious for some, but frequently new students want to begin piano lessons without having an instrument at home. An acoustic piano such as the Yamaha Upright Piano or a digital one such as the Yamaha P125 are our recommendations for a first reliable piano to buy. 2. A Piano Instructor

Learning the piano requires proper guidance. Our recommendation is to get in contact with one of our qualified piano teachers for in-person or online lessons. A qualified piano teacher will guide you through the best curriculum for you, and it can also help you get the basic needs to start playing the piano right away. You can also learn from online tutorials, or through self-teaching materials with certain limitations.

3. A Piano Method Book

If you hired a qualified instructor, he or she will tell you which method book to buy. If you are teaching yourself or your child to play the piano, you may want to start with a traditional piano method book such as Faber Piano Adventures or Piano Town.

Playing the piano could be one of the most beneficial activities you and your family can do; however, it needs to be done correctly. Proper training from qualified instructors with the right instrument and learning materials are key for success. Let us help you meet your goals. Enroll now in one of our lessons.
